Drowned land

So this time next week I will be on a plane on my way to a watery land. I hear that in Chittagong where my brother in law lives, half the ground floor is flooded. Even Dhaka, which isn't so coastal is getting under inches of water. Or so I hear. I haven't bothered checking this. Its just the news that comes through on the phone and people do tend to exaggerate a little so who knows what the exact situation is. While I am determined to live as 'normally' and happily as possible for the 4 weeks I'm there, I'm beginning to think this could be harder than usual. Flooding is problematic.

Meanwhile, the only thing I've packed is my make up bag! Everything else is a lot more complicated than choosing which eyeliner I'll be wearing the most. There are these weird regulations now or should I say, safety measures which I have to look up soon so I know what I can definitely take.

On the other hand, there's something refreshing about this trip. Its like a trip to a charity shop during spring cleaning. You take along things you don't need to remove clutter from the house and sometimes come back with some 'new and interesting' things you just happened to stumble across. Ok, forget the new stuff. I just want to spring clean. Even though its summer.

Time has suddenly slowed down though. I think its because I'm not actually glued to my laptop so much which means the internet isn't stealing so much of my time. I'm not doing anything particularly amazing with this time on my hands but I am enjoying the relaxed mood of the house for a few days. Sometimes I feel like being with my family is like being in a parallel world and sometimes, its a good thing!
